Our two self-catering cortijos [cottages] have been tastefully renovated in the Alpujarra style with traditional crushed slate flat roofs, original chestnut beams, shuttered windows and stable doors.
Cortijo Halcón has one double [or twin] bedroom sleeping 2, kitchen diner and separate lounge with wood burning stove It is ensuite with shower, wc and basin
Cortijo Aguila has two ensuite bedrooms with shower, wc and basin. A comfortable lounge with wood burning stove or gas fire [in case the evening is cool], secluded walled patio with patio table and chairs and BBQ Kitchen/diner equipped for your self-catering requirements
Both cortijos have the advantages of:
Hob, oven, fridge, pots and pans and ample utensils and cutlery
Adjacent to each is the original era [threshing floor]. This looks onto the orchard, with apple, pear, peach, nectarine, cherry, walnut, and grapes in abundance
Reservoir fed from the main over ground acequias, which is a delight to swim in during warm weather. Sun loungers are provided. In addition for the faint hearted a small plunge pool with water heated by the sun is just below the reservoir
Electricity is provided by photovoltaic panels and stored in batteries providing lighting only.
Our water is snowmelt from the top of the mountain filtered underground to our own spring. [Analysed as pure Sept 2003]
Hot water is supplied via solar energy backed by butane gas.
The self-catering price includes a generous starter pack of groceries per person. A list of suggested groceries is supplied after your booking is confirmed and may be amended to suit personal tastes. An additional service available mid week is the purchase of further groceries to order - ask for information on arrival. In season you can purchase our fresh fruit and vegetables and home produced eggs and many staples such as milk, bread and rice. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements, which we will do our best to meet.
Always available and included in the price are basic condiments, washing up liquid, tea towels, toilet rolls and soap.
Bedding and towels are provided but please bring beach towels for all outdoor use.
